The year is off to a busy start! Along with transactional, permitting, and litigation successes for our clients, we have been involved in a variety of activities with and for the environmental bar.
Tom Mackie interviewed EOEEA Secretary Matt Beaton for an informative EBC program. In a setting reminiscent of the Frost/Nixon interviews, Tom grilled Secretary Beaton on the Kain v. DEP decision and the new world order under Pres. Trump. The Secretary was candid and affable. As he shared with Tom and the well-attended crowd, Massachusetts will continue its dedication to critical environmental issues while it prepares for major federal budget cuts to environmental programs.
Peter Durning, co-chair of the Boston Bar Association Energy & Environmental Law Section, presented a primer on environmental permitting as part of the BBA’s Friday Fundamentals programs along with his co-chair John Beling. The programs are intended to provide new lawyers with an exposure to a broad variety of practice areas.
Our former law clerk, Carson M. Shea, Esquire, completed a Judicial Clerkship with the Superior Court and is now an associate with Cornell & Gollub working on products liability and commercial litigation cases.
MCLE recently published Tom Mackie’s and John Shea’s updated chapters on Solid Waste and Hazardous Waste Cleanup Law, respectively, in its Massachusetts Environmental Law treatise.
