Peter Vetere is a litigator who focuses his practice in environmental law. Pete resolves disputes related to Chapter 21E hazardous materials remediation, stormwater issues, brownfields assessments, and wetlands permitting and enforcement. With a strong foundation in civil litigation, Pete represents clients in complex business and commercial litigation, defending cases across the real estate, construction, financial, pharmaceutical and hi-tech industries. Regardless of the industry, clients rely on Pete’s methodical approach to resolving complex disputes efficiently, helping them move forward with important projects.
Before joining Mackie Shea Durning, Pete was an associate at a Boston commercial litigation firm, Arrowood LLP, where he accumulated considerable experience handling complex civil litigation matters. Pete spent time as a clerk at the Land Court Department of the Massachusetts Trial Court for the Hon. Harry M. Grossman. In this role, he conducted legal research and assisted in drafting decisions in cases involving real property and zoning issues, including land title ownership, beach access easements, special permit conditions, and subdivision plans. Pete also assisted staff in the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Waste Site Cleanup with drafting a grant application for Brownfield assessment funding from the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
Pete earned his J.D. from Vermont Law School, serving as a production editor for the Vermont Journal of Environmental Law and also as an editor for Vermont’s Legal Research Group. Pete also worked as a clinician at the Vermont Environmental and Natural Resources Law Clinic, where he assisted with Clean Water Act matters. A Massachusetts native, Pete is an avid skier and pasta-maker.
